My grandma used to make these every year for their churches cookie sale, though I suppose they aren’t really cookies.
They are easy to make, don’t dirty up much of the kitchen, and easy to eat! Each one is just a little bite. These are also a great treat to make with the kids! My kids can almost make these themselves!
It’s hard to write a recipe for these, since they are so simple…but I’ll do my best.
1 bag pretzels – the kind that are little squares with tiny little squares inside 1 bag regular M&Ms candy1 bag Hugs candy Cover pan with pretzels – use a pan with sides, if you have one. We simply use as many pretzels as the pan will hold, then put any extras back. Unwrap all of the Hugs. Place one hug flat side down on each pretzel. Place pan in 300 degree oven until hugs are just a bit melty; you do NOT want the hugs to melt into puddles. It takes 5-10 minutes. I always stick a knife in; if the center of the hugs is soft, they are ready. Pull pan out and set on hot pad on counter. Place one M&M candy on top of each Hug. The weight of the candy will pull the candy down into the center of the Hug. (As you can see at the bottom of the picture, sometimes the M&Ms want to slide off the side. If you want them to look just right, then you can tap the M&M gently back into the center. If you want to be the cool mom and just let your kids enjoy the activity then you don’t worry about it and let the kids do whateve they want. Then later, when you want to take a picture you’ll wonder what happened to all of the ones that you did!) Do be careful the pan will be hot enough to burn you, though the chocolate will just we warm. Once all the M&Ms are in place, set these in a cool place. If your pan will fit in your fridge, that’s great; I often set mine in the cold garage on my husband’s workbench that he cleaned off for just such a thing! Once the chocolate has cooled, these little beauties will just lift up off the pan. If one gets a bit stuck, twist it just a bit. Makes about 60 treats.
I can’t believe I just wrote a paragraph that long for something SO simple! Oy!
Cute!
These look delicious! Thanks for sharing.
